The rich and diverse culture of Bali plays out at all levels of life, from the exquisite flower-petal offerings placed everywhere, to the processions of joyfully garbed locals shutting down major roads as they march to one of the myriad temple ceremonies, to the otherworldly traditional music and dance performed island-wide. Almost everything has spiritual meaning.

Bali is an Indonesian island known for its forested volcanic mountains, iconic rice paddies, beaches and coral reefs. The island is home to religious sites such as cliffside Uluwatu Temple. To the south, the beachside city of Kuta has lively bars, while Seminyak, Sanur and Nusa Dua are popular resort towns. The island is also known for its yoga and meditation retreats.

Kuta Beach is one of the best places to enjoy Bali’s famous sunsets. Located on the island’s southwestern coast, you can enjoy sunbathing, surfing, swimming, and beach soccer throughout the year.

Kuta’s main beach roads, Jalan Kartika Plaza and Jalan Pantai Kuta, are dotted with resorts, hotels, entertainment spots, shops, and a mix of restaurants and bars. Shopping options include Discovery Shopping Mall and the colourful Kuta Art Market. If you’re planning to surf in Bali, the waves at Kuta Beach suit beginner to advanced surfers.

I highly recommend reading up on Bali, as its loaded with history, culture and points of interest. I can recommend the DK Eyewitness Travel Guide on Bali and there are many other to choose from. You may also want to check out online sources like wikitravel.org, lonelyplanet.com, and tripsavy.com.

Getting Around in Bali

The best way to get around in Bali is to either take public taxis (Blue Bird) which are quite safe and use a legal meter system or to rent a car.

Indonesian Currency: Rupiah

An essential travel tip to Bali is the official currency of Indonesia. Indonesian Rupiah denominations are in Rp1,000, Rp2,000, Rp5,000, Rp10,000, Rp20,000, Rp50,000 and Rp100,000.

Local Bali Time Zone

Standard time zone: UTC/GMT +8 hours
Time zone abbreviation: WITA - Central Indonesian Time

Electricity in Bali

Bali electric plugs are type C, F, and G. You will need a voltage converter and plug adapter in order to use U.S. appliances. We recommend getting a universal adapter and converter kit.

Language in Bali

Balinese, Indonesian and English are the most widely spoken languages in Bali, and the vast majority of Balinese people are bilingual or trilingual.

New Member Orientation

If you have never been to a Global Value Worldwide Meeting, or if you are a NEW MEMBER , having joined our group since the last meeting, we highly encourage you to attend our NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION.  This meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 3 at 4pm, ahead of our opening Cocktail Party.

These are well attended. In the orientation we get a chance to meet each other, and get to know one another before the opening cocktail party.  We also go over a few of the basics as to how Global Value works and how to maximize the return on your Global Value investment.

Please check THE AGENDA for the location.

Meeting Format

Last year we debuted our CUSTOM MEETING APP. We listened to all the recommendations and suggestions and have introduced a long list of upgrades this year. You can easily check your ONE on ONE Schedules, check other’s schedules, make meetings, communicate with other members, and keep notes right in your app, which you can share with your staff. The Meeting Agenda and a number of other features are in the APP as well.

Our meeting officially starts off with our welcome COCKTAIL RECEPTION, on Thursday, September 3 at 7:30pm. This cocktail reception is for members, their guests and spouses. There will be some welcoming remarks and it will feature light snacks, a full bar, soft drinks and water.

This year we are featuring a TROPICAL DRESS CONTEST and will be awarding SPA coupons for the best shirt, the best dress, the best overall tropical presentation and others. So be sure to pack your winning tropical outfit!

Our formal meetings begin at 9am for the next two days, with presentations and free flowing coffee and tea throughout the day.

ONE on ONE sessions will start at 10:30am, and will continue until 12:00pm, at which time we will break for lunch. ONE on ONE sessions will resume at 1pm and continue until 5pm each day. Lunch is included each day as part of your meeting package. As with last year, we will continue our policy of members issuing Penalty Cards for members who do not attend their scheduled ONE on ONE meetings. We will share these names with the entire group.

ONE on ONE meetings will be scheduled using our in house scheduling software. In scheduling ONE on ONE meetings, keep in mind the sooner you register for the meeting, the more options you will have to schedule meetings and for others to schedule with you.

ONE on ONEmeetings are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. Once again, and we hear this every year, for those who wait to the last minute to register, the ONE on ONE  Meeting slots of those you might want to meet with can be filled up, with no openings. Register for the meeting as soon and as early as possible.

We highly recommend you consider bringing at least two representatives from your company to cover that many more ONE on ONE  meetings. We offer a discounted registration rate for additional company members to attend.

SUGGESTED DRESS CODE: For meetings it is suggested you dress business casual. Please no T-shirts in the meeting rooms, but do dress comfortably.

The Gala Dinner

Our GALA DINNER is scheduled to open with a cocktail party at 7:30pm, on Friday, September 4. This includes the cocktail party, a full dinner and professional entertainment, and is another great opportunity to get to know your partners in a fun setting.

The GALA DINNER will also be an informal event and will be loads of fun.
